My name is Margaret Duclos, I have been working with and training dogs since 2004. I have worked as a veterinary assistant since 2004, and started my dog training journey as a volunteer at Seattle Humane in their dog behavior & socialization program around the same time, as well as an assistant in their dog training classes.

In 2005, I began mentoring in classes at Seattle Dogworks and went through their Certificate of Canine Studies program. I assisted in group training classes and ran puppy and adult playgroups there for a couple years, while also offering in-home adult & puppy board & training, and boarding, eventually opening my own training and boarding business.

In 2009, I took a break from professional training to go back to school. I have continued to build my knowledge and skills via seminars and countless classes with my own dogs. I have raised 5 Siberian huskies and 2 Australian shepherds (our current 7 dogs!) since 2015, as well as offered informal puppy boarding & training for friends.

I train and compete in many venues with my dogs, my main passion being scent sports (nose work, NASDA, etc), and agility, but we also dabble in rally, all-breed lure, some disc sports, dock diving, herding, etc.

In 2026, I decided to open Madrona Kennels and start offering my services again. I specialize in puppy raising and socialization, but also have extensive experience managing reactivity (having raised and lived with 4 very different reactive dogs over the last 20 years), resource guarding, and a variety of other behavior challenges, and am excited to be able to offer my services to help my fellow challenging-dog owners. :)
